We are 2 adults plus a beautiful Hungarian Puli dog who are easy going fun loving but hard working. Paul is 50 and an artist, writer, IT consultant and loves working with wood. I am 44 year old psychologist. After hectic life in London we moved to Slovenia in hope to live a better life and time to enjoy what we are doing. We bought an old house 3 years ago here in Slovenia and have worked very hard bringing it back to life. We are building a reservoir for collection of rain water and many more wonderful things around the house. The house and grounds will be used for art workshops as well as events and seminars. Help is needed with gardening, maintaining the newly planted orchard as well as the old trees, taking care of the forest, building the wall and reservoir and similar stuff. In return we offer meals, clothes washing facilities, a very comfortable double bed and bathroom but if you’d prefer to stay outdoors in own tent there is also plenty of space available in our 2.5 hectares of land. There are plenty of historic sites and places of outstanding natural beauty in the area including wonderful lakes, rivers and waterfalls. We are happy to receive help from couples or singles, smokers or non-smokers and although we are not vegetarians ourselves we are happy to prepare you vegetarian meals if required.Area: Europe
*** Now looking for helpers in March *** Bonjour! We are Dalila (french), Pete (english), Emilie (3 years old) and Sidney (born in august 2011). Our place is an old château set in 29 acres of meadow, in the Pyrénées mountains, 1h30 south of Toulouse. We've finished renovating the interior of the château in 2009, and with sustainability in mind, installed solar panels for hot water, photovoltaic panels for electricity, rain water collection, composting. We're using our own wood for cooking and heating in the winter; and using fruits and vegs from our garden in the summer months. We're now onto our next projects of renovating the outbuildings, landscaping the garden and generally maintaining the grounds of the property. We are looking for enthusiastic, energetic people who enjoy physical work, being outdoors, who show initiative and are fairly independant, as we both work from a home office and looking after our little ones keeps us busy! Experience of using chainsaw and power tools is necessary! The help we need includes: - chainsaw, cut and split wood for heating next winter - tidy the grounds (weeding, strimming etc) - cut and clear out dead trees across the property - render and joint newly built stone walls - prepare our veg patch for planting - ongoing building work to renovate the outbuilding (windows, put up beams for flooring, etc.) - spring clean the house (windows, chandeliers, etc)Area: Inside Madidi National Park
Option 1. Torewa is an indigenous community of Quechua-Lecos indians that is located in the heart of Madidi National Park in Bolivia, surrounded by a million and a half hectares of protected Amazon rainforest. We offer a very unique type of community volunteering where you can stay from two weeks to two months in one of the largest protected Amazon regions in the world. Animal encounters here are surely beyond what may be experienced in other areas and reserves of smaller size. This is a unique possibility to travel deep inside the Amazon to one of it's largest and best preserved areas and volunteer in a true isolated indigenous community. surrounded by endles extyensions of untouched primary tropical Amazon rainfroest. There is no electricity, running water, or any services whatsoever. This is not the type of easy volunteering for people that search free lodging and food. This is an once in a lifetime nature experience that is waiting for only but a few. To come here you are asked to bring food supplies, and transportation is difficult since you need to either hire a shuttle boat or wait for some days for a boat to take you there. Speaking some spanish is required. Option 2. Working in a tour agency in the town of Rurrenabaque that offers tours to madidi national park.Area: Kudat, Sabah
I'm currently in Australia so not back in Borneo until March so looking for people from then. Time is completely optional - stay for a night, stay for a month! We grow Sea Cucumbers for the Asian food market! 2 Australian guys living up near the Tip of Borneo in Kudat. Pretty quiet place so will suit people looking to get away to a remote place and do something a little different...
