Area: GrandaOur Girls Home is a home for social orphans in Granada, Nicaragua. The girls are not official 'orphans' but victims of physical/mental/sexual abuse, extreme poverty or other social difficulties within their home life. There are currently 26 girls ranging from 4-17 years old. The home is run by an order of nuns called Madre Albertina, committed to caring for the poor. There is a definite structure within the home consisting of 2 live-in carers/educators, a therapist, social worker, and volunteers. They all work together to help the girls with their learning, and their life skills. Some girls stay for a short while, some have been there for many years. The idea is always to try and reunite them to family members.
Area: PiedmontApply for 2015 only From 5 years, me, Alessandro, and Monica, my wife, run a countryside boutique bed and breakfast in the hilly heartland of Piemonte wine country, in northwestern Italy. In the good season we need help, because we have more guest coming to stay at our place. We love laughters, relaxing, nature, good food and wine - but in summer we have little time for that: we focus on providing the best possible service to our guest from Italy, Europe and beyond.
Area: Valdivia, Región de Los RíosI'm zoologist, working in wildlife conservation, especially with endangered species such as some South American aquatic mammals. I live in a 3-hectare plot on the hillside overlooking the Bay of Corral, several rivers and the sea. The plot is located in the town of Niebla, 18 km from the city of Valdivia. My family currently lives in Spain where my children are doing college. I worked many years in an NGO dedicated to the conservation of nature and now I trate, and now I try to combine my work in wildlife conservation proyects and the farm work. I get volunteers who are interested in knowing the work on a small farm with traditional techniques and also to assist in conservation of wildlife. Prefer volunteers to be at least a month to teach the job, know the culture and show other places in southern Chile where I do my conservation projects.
