Area: AndaluciaMy family & I recently moved to Velez Blanco, Almeria, Spain. We bought an old Cortijo approximately 1km out of Velez Blanco in the campo. It is an area of natural beauty with a very strong local farming community. Our Cortijo had belonged to a local farming family some years ago but has since suffered considerable neglect. We have 3 sons 15, 10 and 8 years old. 2 horses, 2 dogs and 2 cats Speedy and Ash. We completed the internal renovations in April 2012 when we moved into the property. We are now commencing work externally, our wish is to return the small holding to producing organic vegetables, contributing the olive harvest to the local cooperative and sustaining the land to encourage local wildlife. We have several caves within the farm which produce a constant natural source of water, we have managed to collect this water and are now irrigating the land and supplying drinking water to our horses. The horses manure will supply fertiliser for the vegetables, flowers and trees. We would like volunteers to help us work on the land, care for our animal and help with the renovations. We have a lot of work to do externally on the house, the stables, the pool house and the land. Our children go to the local school and belong to a number of after school activities including conservatorio de muscia. There maybe help required in the house at times depending on our work plans. In return we are able to provide comfortable accommodation with our family for a mixture of european home cooked meals.
Area: BavariaWe live in a small village about 20 kilometers south of munich, very near to „Starnberger See“ and not too far from the alps. Although we live in the countryside and our village is pretty small, the next railway station for the train to munich (a 30 minutes trip) is only 2 kilometers away and easy to reach by bike - even by feet in about 20 minutes. Also the lake „Starnberger See“ is not far away and also reachable by bike for a swim. Our family are 4 persons: me (50, formerly marketing manager and riding teacher), my husband (55, farmer) and our two daughters (19 and 21 years and both students), who still live with us. We run a small alpaca farm and live with lots of animals, which are an important part of our life: around 30 alpacas (which we breed), 2 horses, a nice 2-year-old white shepard, cat, some guinnee pigs, chicken). Our pasture is about 3 hectare.
