We are a Dutch Family living in France!
We live on a milk farm of 65 ha., so there's a lot of space :-) We have cows, ponies (the kids can ride on them with a little help), a donkey, 4 dogs and a cat. Our farm is just 500 mts away from the rn 141. On this road you drive 6 km left or right to a small town. Bigger cities are St. Junien (~20 mins), Limoges (~45 mins), Angoulème (~30 mins), Bordeaux (2.5 hours~) and Paris (~4 hours)
(Estimated timings by car)
We have 3 kids: Périne from 9, Isabella from 6 and Marc is 4
The 3 kids speak fluent French and Dutch; they are learning/picking up English from others (English-speaking friends of the family). I (mama) speak fluent French, English, German and Dutch. My husband speaks French, Dutch and English fluently.
Our biggest hobbies are: scouts , judo, singing, creative, cows :) what are yours?
As our farm and our children are very laborious, we are almost always looking for extra hands!
Of these extra hands we hope that they are able to work independently, own make decisions, without side lining others. Generally we are early work starters - we start with breakfast between 7.00-8.00am,(in the weekend/holidays one our lather!) subsequently taking a short rest in the afternoon. We ask maximum 4-5 flexible hours a day.
Richard and Geraldine have owned a centre for health and healing on Mt Tamborine, Queensland, Australia for twenty years. Here they hand bottle spring water and produce flower essences in a beautiful garden, amidst a rainforest area. The Fellowship of our centre is a non denominational Not for Profit organisation dedicated to the sharing of Knowledge. We are presently converting four ancient stone barns to establish a similar centre in the South of France.
Hi! I live in my lovely grandparents' house built in 1939. I feel so grateful and respectful of this lovely place, and of the life that inhabits.
Our home is your home; our home. Remember this, and feel it : )
I work in some projects around bikes, eco, organic food, sharing economy, music, art...etc.
We are a family of 3 with a young Giulio 4 years old, we would like someone to help us with the house, speaking english and spend some time with Giulio. We have a spear room for you, we live near the center of florence, and we have a cat as well.
My name is Steve,
We are working on an 16th century chateau/castle in the countryside of the Perigord Noir, part of the Dordogne region.
My background is actually Rooted in the fine arts as was my parents. My own work eventually evolved to the preservation of period houses and other architecture. Among other things, I'm very interested in traditional building methods and skills of all kinds. Those are some of the areas of my passion and expertise.
We are having an intensely good time working our way through the challenges of this project. There are usually between three and eight of us outside of an occasional artisan. There seems to be a lot to lean and to learn from even for the very experienced. That goes for me and I assume whoever joins us.
The work planned for this summer is interesting and varied. If you join us we would suggest some work cloths and shoes, insurance helps, and the ability to work independently. We are always ready to help, and pass along or teach skills.
Cooking is a shared effort. if someone decides to lead then we help if we can. We will happily provide three hearty meals a day. Those with special needs diets must attend to that and we will be happy to help. At the foot of the Hill bellow the Chateau sits a wonderful vegetable farm. You can walk down and get their vegetables as they are picked. There is a market in every near by village once a week where we buy as well.
While you are here we would be happy to bring you to some of the incredible castles, river for kayaking, or whatever your interest during your off time. For instance - Castle Beynac - the strong-hold of Richard the lion-heart, This is the Perigord Noir where most of the important sites in South Western France are clustered. The chateau is 10 minutes from Les Ezyies, the home of the new National Museum of Pre-History. The cave paintings of Lascaux and remains of the Cro Magnon Man. Most things to do and significant sites are within 30 to 45 minutes away.
