Area: British ColumbiaWe are a husband and wife, 59 and 62. We raise beef cattle and sell hay. Our farm is in the Robson Valley, 4 km from the small town of McBride in B. C. pop. 600. It is a farming valley between the Rocky Mountains and the Cariboo Mts. The scenery is beautiful. We are 100 km from Jasper and 50 km from Mt. Robson. We have horses for riding and a donkey trained to pull a buggy. There is lots of hiking near by. Our daughter who lives in her house on our farm generally has other young people staying with her. We have internet.

Area: AlbertaWilma and I have a small farm in Central Alberta, Canada. We hope to be planting our starting orchard in the spring of 2014. We will also be planting root vegetables for sale to the surrounding communities. Our chicken flock of about 40 contains Light Brahmas, Speckled Sussex, Orpingtons as well as a number of mixed breeds. The chickens are raised for eggs and meat. Our 26 acres is located in beautiful country with an incredible view, quiet and serene. We need help from April to October.
Area: North Rhine WestphaliaWe are a 48 years old couple, living with 3 cats and a German Shepard Dog very close to Cologne. Our house is an old, but modern restaurated farmhouse with a hudge garden, pool, sport and wellness area. We are both self-employed, as a veterinarian and surveyor.
Area: BrandenburgVolunteer in the eastern part of Germany and join our life. We are a family of 3: Kerstin (46), Carsten (46) and Christopher (19). We live in a village on an estate that was a farm in the past. The village is situated 60 km from Dresden, 100 km from Leipzig and 170 km from Berlin in a national park. We have 4 cats that live with us, too. If you come to us, you must like cats. The business run by our family offers a holiday apartment and different programmes for freetime and holidays. We also want to create a place for meeting new people and offer activities for the community. Therefore new projects are planned and we want to reconstruct the buildings and the old barn, recultivate the garden, plant herbs etc. Catsitting is one of your tasks. Much help is needed in and around the house and volunteers are welcome. We offer our hospitality and invite you to join our life. You can learn German and live like a German, travel around in the area and enjoy the beautiful countryside and lovely places. We integrate you into our life and will show you around, too. Working hours are flexible, 5 hours per day, 5 days per week. We expect active, responsible, motivated, respectful and reliable guests, who also "see" the jobs that have to be done and work on their own initiative. You live in our office & guest room, if there are two volunteers, you share the room. Non-smokers prefered. No drugs. You have internet access and can use a computer, too. Feel free to contact us to ask any question. Hope to see you soon in Germany. Kerstin, Carsten and Christopher Update: Being a member of different platforms we had more than 30 helpers from 14 countries since June`13, all great people. But I get many requests that are very simple and impersonal. And helpers demand more than we can offer (like visa, pay, paying travel etc). That's why I changed my profile and although it sounds very strict now, it makes sure that just people apply who take it serious and don't play around. We don't want to waste our time with people who just need a bed to sleep. You will be part of our family and you will definitely have a great time with us. Please make sure that you take care of visa requirements, insurances, travel costs etc. before arranging an agreement with us as your hosts. Recently helpers did accept our offer and then did not even care to let us know that their plans changed or they would not come. That is very sad, especially as we refused other requests. If you accept our offer, we expect you to stay in contact with us and inform us about any change concerning your travel schedule. Update April'14: from our last requests and experiences: Just to let you know before you contact us: we can't send a letter of invitation and we don't take any legal responsibility for our guests. We offer a big deal: hospitality, company, food and accommodation. If we sign anything, we are legally responsible for all costs. This we can't and won't do. Helpers must cover own travel costs and insurances (health & travel insurance etc.) as well as all duties concerning visa regulations. Before applying please make sure you have read our profile in detail. We don't answer general requests, that are sent to many hosts. We appreciate personal e-mails. If you understood all of this information, please write in your FIRST mail the codeword "explore the east", all e-mails without this codeword will be denied!
