Region: West Sussex, south-east EnglandPLEASE DO CHECK MY 'CALENDAR' TAB BEFORE EMAILING, AS I DO KEEP IT UP TO DATE! PLEASE NOTE: I am only able to take ONE Workawayer at a time, usually for 1-2 weeks only, as there is not enough work for longer placements. Please do not ask me to host you 'for one or two months' because I am not able to! I'm sorry that I cannot accept Workawayers under 18 years of age, either. I am happy to make arrangements from October 14th 2014 if you are able to help us with the completion of a renovation project: useful skills would be experience at painting/decorating/landscaping/fence or shed building . I already have enough Workawayers arranged until then! Since a serious road accident left me slightly disabled 8 years ago, I've found it more difficult to keep up with the day to day work in our house and garden. We grow a lot of our own vegetables organically and also have a fruit garden and flower borders- in total about 0.25 hectares . We keep a few chickens and ducks and have a young terrier bitch. My husband works full time locally and I still attend a physical rehabilitation course several mornings a week, so helpers need to feel happy left alone in a rural situation for several hours and must be able to work on their own initiative for some of the time. I mostly require help in the garden and with some jobs around the house, I especially welcome those with an interest in gardening and I am happy to teach them more! We have been hosts of exchanges for 27 years and so are used to welcoming people from other cultures into our home, we also make baskets and have a number of other craft and rural skills that we are happy to share with helpers. We hope that Workawayers will 'live as family' and share meal preparation or washing up in addition to their volunteer hours in the house or garden. We eat a lot of vegetarian meals using our home grown produce, but also eat meat ( usually wild or organic) ; I am happy to cater for special dietary needs if given adequate notice. We usually go to bed around 10pm and are fairly early risers, so prefer helpers who can 'get up and get going' before 9am on the days that they are working!
Region: Makale - Tana TorajaMy name is Natsir from Tana Toraja on Sulawesi island (Indonesia). I live about 8 km from Makale in a small traditional Toraja village. I have 2 houses where i live with my family (Mother + wife + 4 kids). I'm a farmer (organic products only) and a part time English teacher for the poor kids of the area (neighbouring villages). I give the english classes every day and i do it for free just to help the kids with their future life. On top of that, I also help people that suffer from cleft lip and work closely with an international organisation that provides free surgery to these people. The organisation is "Smile train" and they helped my 2 kids with surgery in the past. Now I commit myself in helping the others. They made a little documentary on the work i do here. I'm looking forward to receiving volunteers from anywhere and live with us a great Toraja experience (accomodation in my own house with local Toraja lifestyle and 3 traditional organic meals per day with the family) This is a great opportunity for travellers to discover the Toraja area and culture while leaving in an authentic atmosphere.

Region: La LibertadCoffee shop, Natural Drinks and Bar at the beach. We are a group of 3 partners running this project in the village of Huanchaco, in northern Peru. This little beach town has a very relaxed and quiet life. Our place is a beautiful big house with an amazing beach view. We have been re-constructing and fixing the last details for an opening that is just around the corner. The best season for a visit of the town is coming, Peruvian summer (january to march) is the high season with more tourists and fun activities on the beach like world surf championship in February. The area for the customers will be on the first floor. On the second and third floor we are offering shared rooms of two for the volunteers. If you are interested in surfing or just love the beach you will love the view that’s just on the surf point to check the best waves or just enjoy one of the world’s best sunsets. Depending on the hours of work, we can offer free surf lessons too. Spanish lessons are included and since you will be engaged with the customers you will have a daily practice of the language. Our concept: sell 'natural Peruvian herbal drinks' (with healthy properties) all the mornings and noons. The coffee is another option for the complete chill atmosphere that we are aiming for. At nights we will mix the herbal drinks with pisco (the traditional drink of Southern Peru) or Rum (from the Northern parts of Peru). We serve simple but popular dishes with typical Peruvian ingredients with a twist of an international fusion. Our goal is to be different and offer our customers a chilled atmosphere where they can hang out during the day or night with fun activities. Since we have a great stage we will be able to host some great concerts with local and foreign musicians. As a volunteer of the coffee house you will: * Work 6 hours 6 days a week with a change of shifts (morning or evening). * Waiter tables, greet guests, give the best service. * Prepare the kitchen for the next day (cut, chop and boil) * Prepare dishes upon order (since our concept is simple snack food, it will be easy to put together the dishes) * Wash dishes.
