I am a 46 year old Scot and my wife, 37, is from Argentina. I am a jack of all trades and have been many things in life, from soldier to TV presenter and met my love in Ibiza where she had settled temporarily. We were both big travellers before meeting one another and still are, although there's less time for such things now. We just got back from walking with a camel through Xinjiang and then with donkeys through Kyrgyzstan.
For some years now we've been building the Serai in Morocco with our fisherman and farmer neighbours. We have used cement only in the frame and on the roof. Otherwise we use only rocks, old bricks, earth and lime. We teach ourselves how to do things from books and the internet then we teach the guys and another bit is built. It's a fantastic building, sitting against a forested hillside 800m from the beach, and has a bright future as a permaculture research centre.
We have now teamed up with the two communities we live between and are about to begin a fantastic project to regenerate their farmlands and the forest behind, to build a sustainable future for them and to learn, by trial and error, what works in such a semi arid landscape, before taking these lessons all over North Africa. We will be using permaculture, holistically managed grazing, agro-ecology and aqua-ponics.
The permaculture project with will be starting next year (2014). For the moment, from mid-November, we are looking for people to help with building the house/centre, internet promotion of the permaculture project. We hope you can join us.
We are a small family consisting of my husband, me and our baby who was born on the 2nd December 2011. I am an English tarot reader and writer, who used to live in London working in the film industry. My boyfriend is a Turkish accountant with a love for çay and raki!
We are keen to bring a community vibe into our little flat; music, good food, laughter, dancing, group meditation... whatever, we'll see what talents and energies you bring. We are open to people from all backgrounds to share stories and mealtimes with. Bring your yoga mat and musical instrument if you have them!
Please note: We are not a guest house.
The town of Fethiye and the surrounding villages along the turquoise coast is a beautiful area with endless things to do. We can recommend the best markets, boat trips, scuba dives and absails, or walking routes and beaches if you are just looking for a relaxing way to spend your free time.
There is a dolmus (minibus - 3 mins walk) to take you into the centre of Fethiye, or you can walk in about 20-25 mins and lots of clubs and bars, shops and restaurants about 10 mins ride from our house.
Our ranch is located in the beautiful Okanagan community of Enderby and is home to over 30 Alpacas, some laying hens, a few sheep, dogs and cats. Our ranch supports and believes in the Canadian Alpaca industry and the strength and future of the fibre industry.
We have a vegetable garden for our own consumption and fruit trees.
We don't use any chemicals on our land or in our home. So therefor we are an organic operation and we use natural elements in our farming technics.
We would love to share our farming experience and lifestyle with those interested in learning more about these wonderful animals.
