Description
We're working on our dream to create a healing retreat centre and camp buried in nature in the mountains of Southern Tuscany. We have a 10 year old daughter Rosie, two cats, once black and one white, and currently 5 kittens! Gordon is a massage therapist and healer. He's very practical and skilled at maintenance of all kinds and carpentry. Amanda is an astrologer and writer. We live a holistic lifestyle, do meditation and pilates, don't drink much and eat a healthy diet that is mostly vegetarian. We're really enjoying hosting Workawayers, the mutual exchange, sharing the simple beauty of our life in Italy, and discovering how many wonderful people there are out there!

During June and July we will be finishing our new house: landscaping, clearing land, laying paths, perhaps building a tractor shelter, some other carpentry work, re-establishing an old vegetable garden, pruning and planting. We will also be building a treehouse for our daughter. We would also like to create a new website. We ask you to help prepare meals or to wash up afterwards. Help with any of this would be very much appreciated and in return for you putting in 100% we will do our best to make you feel at home and give you an experience to treasure.

Accommodation is in tents, sleeping on a double airbed or single bed with bedding and towels provided. There is a compost loo and showers can be taken with an outside solar shower. Meals are taken with us and you can help yourself to breakfast. There is WIfi internet access.

The local town Castel del Piano is about 15 minutes drive or 40 minutes walk away and there is a cinema, cafes, shops, fountains and a beautiful square with a view. Our land borders a river and there are some lovely walks nearby. At the weekend Workaways sometimes take trips to Pisa, Florence, Venice or Rome. If you are with us we may invite people over, enjoy local events or take you to the hot springs or the beach.

I couldn't have asked for a better workaway experience! Amanda, Gordon, and Rosie are all so friendly, thoughtful, and warm-hearted. Elizabeth is an intelligent, thoughtful young woman, spending a year studying in Florence. She's willing, polite and thorough. It was a bit stressful while she was with us because we were between homes and Gordon had a shoulder injury, but she was a great help during this time of transition and a perfect person to be with us during this time. more

Gordon, Amanda and Rosy were a fantastic family whilst I was staying with them, from day one they welcomed me into the family like I was one of their own... They house that we were working on is in a unique little position right in the hills near Castel Del Piano, the work load was nice and the home made food was a real treat... Good Luck with more
Susan and Dan made it to our home in the mountains despite all the odds and we are so glad they made the effort for 3 nights with us! It was a real pleasure to spend time with them both and they very much felt like part of the family. They were willing to wade through snow down the driveway to work on our new house and also left us well stocked up more

Jamie and Wyatt have been so fantastic. They worked really hard while they were with us and are great olive pickers.
