Hello!
My name is Karen and live with my 4 children and my animals (horses, dogs and cats) in a ranch not far from Passau, which is worldwide known as "The Three Rivers City", in the region called Lower Bavaria, one of the most charming areas of Germany.
We are a small, family-run horse farm specialized in the therapeutic field, outdoor (adventure and experiential) education and all that deals with coaching, the horse taking the role of a co-trainer. It is a very variable and interesting work with children and adults.
Furthermore, we offer carriage rides and also the (adequate) transportation of horses.
If you would like to work with horses, to learn more about them – and about yourself! – then you have found the right place. Sometimes he work can be hard, because of cleaning stables or building, so you should have the right attitude to work !
We look forward to meeting you, no matter if you are rather manually skilled or prefer to take care of the household, garden and/or stable. I am sure that there is something for each one of you!
My daughters (16 and 7 years old) and sons (aged 11 and 14) will also enjoy your company. We will have you let beeing part of our familiy, to know us and our country by the time you stay with us
The region offers very many leisure time activities, e.g. swimming, mountain biking, climbing, canoeing, etc. But of course there is also the possibility to discover our beautiful university town Passau, which is only 15 min away. Munich, the enchanting Bavarian capital, is approx. 160 km away and very easily accessible by train.
We offer you full board and accommodation in an apartment with shower and toilet, plenty of fun …and surely an unforgettable stay!
You can communicate with us in English, French, basic Italian, and – of course – in German.

I learnt many things living with Karen and ‘the lot’. I learnt about dogs, cats and especially horses. What makes them tick, what they need, what they mean when they do certain things. For my first time in Germany and my first time as a "workaway", I could not have asked for a better place. If you love horses, don't mind working hard and enjoy meeting new people, this is a great place for you. Karen and the kids speak a very good english and they are great german teachers even for hopeless cases like me! :). The area of germany more
Laura is a person who finds in very easily in a family. I would be happy if she could stay for ever......She is honest, friendly and you can have a lot of fun with her.She knows to work and her very sensitive kind of working with the horses is excellent. So I would trust in her to lead the ranch .

Karen and her Family are the most welcoming and friendly people anyone could ask for, and made my Workaway experience completely enjoyable. The work is physical but they are very fair, and you will never be under- or over-worked! The area is stunning, and all the animals are lovely and great fun to work with! I loved Karen and her family so much! They were so welcoming, I immediately felt like I was part of the family, I really miss all of them! The work is really tough, but when you're working with that many horses, that can be expected, and Karen is very fair and accomodating. I learned so much from staying with the Spagerts and made some more
This was my first Workaway experience and I couldn't have asked for a better host. The work is hard but very rewarding. I was able to work with kids a lot there and even though I spoke little German we still had a lot of fun trying to communicate. Karen speaks great German and her kids were so patient with helping me learn. All of the work I did more
