    Description

We are looking for people that want to escape the rat race and go of grid and the madness. So we are not just looking for helpers. But people who would be interested in living here with us permanently. In exchange for help with projects.

Our names are Stephen and Antonia and our 21 year old son Anthony who loves hanging out with his friends, loves the xbox and sport sport sport. We live in Allier in the Auvergne region of France. We are near the borders of Creuse and Cher. We have lived in France since August 2008 and originally came from the South East Coast of the UK.

We have a large longere which we are renovating. We have lived here since 2011 and it is a very slow project due to lack of funds.

We are an easy going family and like a laugh.

So if this sounds like it appeals to you just get in touch we would love to hear from you.

You would benefit by the experience of life in the unspoilt french countryside amongst our cats and dog.

Staying with us will give you the chance to practice your french language skills and gain an insight into what life is like in rural France where time seems to have stood still and is similar to life in the UK 50 years ago where doors do not have to be locked all the time and everyone has a cheery Bonjour when you pass.

    What else ...

We live very close to a lake which is great for swimming in the hot weather with an adjacent cafe/restaurant, we have far reaching views and are about 20 minutes from the large town of Montlucon with all amenities. We live in a hamlet of about 10 houses. We have lots of places for walking in the countryside and during the summer months there are weekly markets, brocantes, and fetes going on somewhere in the area so if you like dancing and fireworks it is a great place. There is also a place nearby to visit where you can see rock formations eroded by the weather leaving unbelievable balancing acts of nature where large rocks balance on top of others. In the same location as the rocks is a place where you can swing from the trees like tarzan and jane if that is your thing. There are various courses there of differing abilities. Plus a cafe/restaurant.

If you would like to go further afield there is the Puy de Dome area for extinct volcanoes which is very beautiful. If you are interested in canoeing there are canoes to be hired and courses of varying abilities which is great on a hot day. Also you can visit an animal park which has lots of wolves and a labyrinthe which is great fun for all the family. Also you could visit the town of Vichy with its beautiful architecture and spas as the water here is famous.
