Volunteer and live in a tree house at a backpackers in Kenya
Country: Kenya
Last Activity: 07/02/2012
Description
Our Backpackers is built from local materials in 7 acres of coastal tropical forest. The land is owned by my family who have been here since 1956. It is 250 metres from the great Diani Beach access is through a beach bar owned by the family.
We have an abundance of wildlife on the property including the Colobus monkey and the endangered Elephant Shrew.
Our main clients are Volunteers and Independant travellers. Its is a really fun place and very easy going.

Feedback left about host
Andy, the owner, wants volunteers of a similar cultural background to the customers to supplement his normal staff (who cook, clean etc). The basics of the job are that you help him run the hostel - take bookings, run the bar occasionally, help sort out any issues that might arise - and help entertain the guests (helping organise day trips etc and more
Had a great time at Stilts. Andy is really laid back and easy going. He runs a very friendly place that brings people back. While I was there I hardly felt like I was working. Just closing up the bar and making sure that guests were able to get drinks after the permanent staff left for the day was about it.
