I am Freddie and I live in Mbale in Eastern part of Uganda.
I work on Radio and TV here and We have an NGO for Rural Young Farmers
Our PROJECT THEME is Food security for all.
Background:
This project was an initiative of five young farmers in Eastern Uganda in the year 2007.This was after a survey carried out that showed suffering youths who had lost hope in their lives.
Uganda being 90% an agricultural country with quite a high level of food production but low food security. That is to say most of the people produce for today consumption and they end up forgetting tomorrow. This has been the major reason for food insecurity with in the rural communities of Uganda. We saw it better to help communities through farming.
In this project our major target is towards young people as they are the future generation and the most vulnerable stage in society. The youths with their physical ability are a great weapon that can wipe out hunger in communities in eastern Uganda

Our work Main Objectives
-Sensitizing communities on food security.
In this project we hope to come up with farmer sensitization programmes through media and the help of community leaders. this can be through printed materials that are translated into local languages for easy reading and understanding. We also intend to use community radio stations on farmer programmes.
• Training young farmers on modern agricultural methods
Young farmers will get knowledge and necessary information on how they can change their lives positively through involving themselves in modern agricultural practices, like use of improved seeds, pestcides. One will also get to know when and how to use his or her small piece of land for better yields. This will help them have enough eat and keep keep for tomorrow
• Uplifting young generation
This project is to contribute towards the process of poverty eradication in this region of Uganda through promotion of profitable and commercial farming. This farming will rotate on bananas, upland rice, sunflower and other supplementary crops like maize, beans among others.

We have one main house for visitors and it accommodates 4people but if they are sharing it takes 8people.

My stay in Uganda was more than I could ever put in words. There is no doubt that I will be going back to see all the friends and family that I made during my stay. They welcomed me with open arms and showed me a part of Africa that I could have never imagined. It was so worth the risk and I would recommend anyone with an open mind and good heart more
