    Description

    Hi!
We’re a friendly family on an 8-acre wilderness micro-ranch in Austin Texas. Over the years we’ve used our space for gardens, music nights, potlucks, and workshops. Now we’re looking for folks to help us bring the space back to life.

Small projects might include rototilling the garden, clearing trails, building a new mini horse fence, helping construct a cabin or greenhouse, and feeding the rabbits, chickens, and mini horses. Experience and skills with tools and outdoor work is helpful! We also need folks who can not only work with us but work independently.

We enjoy meeting people from all over!

Please note: we can only confirm volunteer opportunities about 2 weeks out so we operate just a bit more on a last-minute basis. If you're trying to plan a month or two ahead of time we won't be able to set anything up but if you're just a couple of weeks out there's a good chance we'll be in town and can work something out!

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

The best way to get a rich, cultural experience is to borrow a couple of our bikes and spend the day in Austin using the bike trails along the lake and sample all the districts in the heart of the city.

This would take you to a huge variety of international food courts, little eateries and coffee shops as well the Mex Am Cultural Center, The French Legation, African Am Cultural Center, LBJ Library, Blanton Art Museum on the UT campus, Bob Bullock History Museum, Texas State Capitol and not to forget the bats on Congress bridge!

The ideal situation is a few days up to a week. Couples and friends encouraged. RV's okay.

We like to work in the morning for 3-4 hours. After that, you can join us for brunch and take the day off to do whatever you like in Austin.

We provide a hearty breakfast each day. (Meals other than breakfast will be on your own unless otherwise coordinated.)

Volunteers will need their own transportation to get in and around Austin. There are grocery stores nearby and a really nice laundry facility.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Austin has a great many things to offer - great parks, hike and bike trails, a plethora of music venues, good eats at local restaurants, artistic, hip vibe scene. We can loan you bikes anytime so you can get around town easily.

Best to have your own car or vehicle to get into town. When in town, bus routes, bikes, scooters, rideshare available.

On occasion we like to host potlucks, events, workshops, music concerts and invite friends and others in the Austin community who are interested in gathering to exchange ideas and stories.
