Description
I live in a small house with a garden, very close to the sea. The garden is always in need of some TLC. The village is at the Oosterschelde on one of the former islands in the SW of the Netherlands. I live with one mid size dog (Mouse).
As an experienced host, I love the interaction with volunteers from different countries and backgrounds - as long as we share a respect for the environment, animals and our fellow humans. The spare bedroom I have, has one double bed, so suitable for single volunteers or a couple. During the day, I work at home (as a translator).
I am a vegetarian (occasionally eating fish) and a non-smoker. Vegans welcome!
I do like a glass of wine or beer over dinner, but I am not in for heavy drinkers.
Smoking only outside the house.
I used to live in Northern Spain but have now moved back to the Netherlands. So - no tons of foster dogs, mountains or donkeys any more (most of the feedback is still for my place in Northern Spain), but I am still the same person and I now live next to the sea.
There is not as much work to be done here as in Ceceda, but there is also lots of opportunities for long walks or cycle rides along the coast. We have endless fields and wide views of the sea.
Help with the garden and my house is very welcome, sometimes I am asking for house sitters when I am traveling.

Get to know the sometimes sunny and often windy SW of the Netherlands with a tidal dam.

Walking and cycling, lots of different sea birds.
We have a small grocery store next door, but shopping malls are approx. 15 km away, so for city life this is not the right place.
Public transport: by bus to get to a city at 14 km with a railway station (Goes). Good connections anywhere from Goes.
I speak Spanish, English, Dutch, some French and German.

Carolina made sure that my senior dog Jazz (16!) had a great time while I was away for a month. When I came home, I found a very relaxed and happy dog thanks to Carolina. During the heavy rains, the house suffered flooding and Carolina kept her cool and rescued the flooring. A big thank you!

the main reason for staying at Anjo´s house in Colijnsplaat was to "home-sit" her house and look 24/7 after her darling dog Jazz, a 16 year old female dog, as Anjo went sailing for over 4 weeks in July. Erick is a really great guy. I had just broken my wrist, so all help was welcome but he took pride in converting the overgrown space around the house into a garden again. Sophie is hard working and a friendly, easy-going volunteer. Even if she is young, she is very responsible. She picks up things very quickly, even if you may have to explain things more in detail as she is still learning English, but it is sufficient. You will not regret hosting Sophie!

Wonderful... It's is a paradise, not only for donkeys, even for human beings. Enjoy and learn from human and non human animals. Donkeys open a new world. Marleen is a great person. All is easy here. I recommend every body to come here.
