Description
We are a four generational family living in two locations in the Himalayas. After traveling the world, we returned to the hills and in our enthusiasm we built cottages in two little villages with land around them.
One location is our original family village home about 6 km from Almora with a 150 year old house and fields. The other is a couple of cottages near Ranikhet.
We need help with the following:
1. Regular maintenance jobs: painting, cleaning and repair of the buildings and gardens.
2. Setting up and teaching in a village learning center for children from grades 1 to 12.
We had a little village school here which closed after COVID. But the children from the villages around us still need help in their studies. We need help with teaching them, especially Math and Science which are neglected in the local schools.
3. Setting up a homestay in our ancestral village. We have a little wooden cottage next to our old stone house- we need to generate income, but we want to offer a getaway with a difference- a village immersion holiday or a peaceful yoga retreat. We are open to ideas.
We need help to clean, organize and create a beautiful space that takes advantage of the fact that it is in the middle of a mountain village.
4. Any new projects with renewable energy, sustainable farming etc. Our spaces are yours if you have the energy, ideas and wherewithal to start something beautiful here.
We have clean air, gorgeous views and lovely weather- we just need your help and energy to maintain our beautiful surroundings and your new ideas to do something even more fantastic here.Types of help and learning opportunities

Volunteers will get a chance to experience life in the Himalayas.
We are a local family but have had the advantages of education and travel, so between us we speak German, English, Hindi, Spanish and Pahari.
We feel super lucky to have a home in the Himalayas and would love to have you help us make something even more beautiful here.Projects involving children

Help
With several buildings and a fair amount of land we need people good at cleaning, gardening, repair and maintenance or those willing to learn.
We would also love to have people interested in teaching the village kids that are here daily and/or organizing music, art or yoga events.
Now that we are starting a homestay we would love volunteers with experience or enthusiasm for this work.
Renewable energy and sustainable farming are also of interest to us.
We are actually just looking for energetic people to help maintain and hopefully build something new in our beautiful little village.Languages
