Buenas! We (*update May 2024, ONLY Luke!) are currently bike touring our way through Spain, with hopes to stop at Workaways along the way. We have volunteered before at workaways in Hawaii, Australia, Spain, New Zealand, and Slovenia, and really enjoyed the experience. We are most interested in farming, animal care, and construction, and are excited to gain more experience in those fields. We are also looking forward to improving our español as well!

We met on an ultimate frisbee team at University in Oregon (USA). Luke studied biology and art, and Nicole studied music. After graduating, we traveled together and stayed at a Workaway on the Hawaiian island of Maui. We then moved to Seattle, Washington to try out city life! In Seattle, Luke worked as a horticulturist and naturalist guide, and Nicole worked in outdoor education guiding climbing, backpacking, and kayaking trips for children.

We both are very interested in sustainable living and value growing our own food, sewing our own clothes, bike commuting, and generally reducing waste. We are both hard workers and enjoy learning new skills and problem solving– for us, getting dirty and tired at work is a good thing! The outdoors are where we spend most of our time hiking, biking, skateboarding, surfing, skiing, working, etc.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

–Carpentry/construction:
Luke has worked in carpentry building fences, and Nicole has basic construction experience from home projects (e.g. building a backyard art studio). Luke has also worked at Trajnostni Park Istra in Slovenia, a volunteer organization focused on helping the local region's community on sustainable building and farming practices.
–Gardening/Landscaping:
Luke has worked as a horticulturist and landscaper, and is proficient using hand and power tools and machinery for both landscaping and carpentry. Nicole has been an avid home gardener for years, enjoys growing her own food, and took multiple university courses about farming.
–Cooking/Baking:
Luke loves to cook, and Nicole loves to bake! Luke has worked at an Italian Trattoria and a Sushi restaurant.
–Childcare:
Nicole has extensive experience as an au pair, nanny, and guide for children on outdoor trips.
–Medicine:
Nicole is a Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician, meaning she is certified to work on ambulances in the U.S., and has special medical training for wilderness scenarios. Luke is a Wilderness First Responder, which is similar training to Nicole's but less in depth.
–Art:
Luke studied art in college and enjoys painting, drawing, and other art projects. Nicole also loves to draw, embroider, do beading work, knit, etc.
–Music:
Nicole studied music in college and plays the viola, bass, and mandolin. Luke plays the guitar beautifully, and dabbles in bass, piano, and drums.
–Cleaning: Luke loves to clean, and is really good at it!

Both of us love to learn new skills, and are quick learners!
