I loved the time I spent with this family in such naturally beautiful part of the world. I can’t speak highly enough of this Work-Away experience! Courtney and Devon were welcoming and generous throughout my time there. They were very hospitable and provided me with a space that felt like my own. I’m grateful to feel like family after just a few short months (: As for the girls - they are a laugh a minute and a pleasure to spend time with. I cared for Joni 2 days a week. We spent lots of time playing with other funny toddlers and going for walks around the island in the sunny spring weather. I have so many warm memories with Joni feeding the ducks and having snacks at the beach. Stella, Joni's older sister is a kind hearted and energetic 5 year old. She is in childcare 5 days a week, but when she was home, she was constantly making me laugh. There’s never a dull moment with Stella and I had so much fun painting and mucking around with her! This Work-Away felt like the perfect work-life balance for me. I was able to easily obtain another fun part time job at a cafe. There are plenty of hospitality and nannying job opportunities on Bowen if you intende to work on the days you’re not with Joni. Courtney and Devon are generous enough to pay in addition to providing free board and rent, so it’s an awesome opportunity to save up. Additionally, I still had free time to hike, swim, dance and do yoga on Bowen Island. Vancouver city, Squamish and Whistler were also very accessible, so I was able to travel and do day trips on weekends! If you’re considering this Work-Away, feel free to reach out to me! Happy to answer any questions (:

What a lovely week we have had at the place. The sweetest family who are used to host for workawayers✨ Jennifer made a list of the tasks so it was easy and clear what to do. They have been good at answering our many questions and giving us tips on what to see in the city. Besides working, they offered sound meditation and a nice hike. We did a lot of gardening but also helped with some painting projects. So nice and really nice to work together with the family. It has been fantastic to get an insight into their family and their way of living - So inspiring! We really enjoyed the week there. During the week we got a little full from rice and beans, but so nice that they offered us food! The warmest recommendations from here. It is the most beautiful place. We loved the nature, but also went on some lovely hikes nearby. Also Heredia was nice to see. Again the family was so friendly to help us with the busses and wich hikes we should do. Thanks a lot for making our first Workaway experience so easy and enjoyable

I had a good time at Valerie & her husbands home. The work is varied which is great to keep you engaged, all sorts of jobs around the garden/house and with the animals. She communicates very well and is willing to help with bus/trains etc and even took me to the beach and on a beautiful hike which I really appreciated. Valerie speaks English very well which made the exchange very easy. The location is great and easy to walk into Ile Rousse. The workaway communal area is a bit dirty but I was the first workawayer so I understand why and it was not too much of a worry for me, the studio was very comfortable. Valerie prepared some foods for me, bought bread from the bakery and fresh foods like cheese and vegetables. I had a lovely time exploring Corsica and contributing to your garden. Merci!!

Vicky! Me and Ruggine and all the other workawayers are missing you so much. Your vibes, your funny moments and me your works! 😂 You are a strong woman and all your stories were so real inspired me. I'm sure that you will be happy in your life and everytime you will come in Italy you must pass in the campsite. Fointableu will be the next step for your climb sessions. See you there!

I can only recommend Sara as a workaway. She is very caring, curious to really understand the country and get to know the family, a fantastic listener, discrete, punctual, tidy, a great cook, wonderful and patient with kids of all ages. My kids won't forget her and said she is the best English teacher they have had too... :-) I can only recommend her as a helping hand.

An unforgettable first woofing experience at La Ferme du Vigneron! Everybody works in a very good atmosphere (work shared between harvesting with Claire and gardening with David), the food is excellent, I met passionate and fascinating people, and the place is very beautiful in the middle of the vines... To resume, it’s the house of happiness :)

We spent three wonderful week at Jake and Melissa‘s place. Jake is really patient and understanding about the things you want to do and learn, and the tasks are always interesting. Melissa is joyful and equally eager to share her pottery skills. We knew we enjoyed outside life but weren’t particularly skillful in building and farm life when we arrived, and 3 weeks later we were able to achieve things we didn’t even imagine in the first place ! We got to build, boat, sauna, chainsaw, see the sheeps on the island, garden, cook, develop our pottery skills, all of this in a friendly and understanding atmosphere. Jake lets you organise your days as you see fit, depending on the energy you can provide to different things. After the day of work, we would often have a bonfire and marshmallows :D. During those three weeks, we had a great sense of accomplishment, and shared a good amount of time with the family. We highly recommended this place for anyone desire to learn new skills and share their own ! All of this takes place in Nova Scotia, a really beautiful province with a unique ocean coast and habited islands. Thank you Jake and Melissa for your sense of hospitality and your kindness!

Thank you to Ronan and Marie for their kindness in hosting Workawayers. Its been a great experience staying at Beltra on the Reserve between Ashford and Glenealy. I caught a lift with Ronan from Dublin which is where he and Marie live. Ronan is very knowledgeable and passionate about all things nature and pleased to share his knowledge and even contacts. Illi and Paddy are the main regulars working at the various properties. Both great guys and incredibly helpful. The work is varied; from trimming grass to a bit of carpentry. There's always something to be done and Illi will find something that will suit your skills. There's now a van which makes shopping trips easy. The accommodation is clean and well presented. The two horses and the ducks become good friends for coffee in the morning. Overall the properties are lovely, Co. Wicklow is beautiful. The work is rewarding and having 4 days off to travel makes so much sense. You may also get to stay when there are other Workawayers which is also treat. Great meeting Tim from Germany and Leonardo from Italy. Can't believe that a month has gone by so quickly. Will hopefully pop back for a visit soon.

Sikko and Marga were lovely hosts. They hosted me for a month and a half. I helped with all kinds of garden projects, and they made sure to offer me work that was in line with my interests and skills. The dinners were always delicious and we sat down to eat as a family every night. The accommodation is lovely. I got a private little room at the edge of the house which allowed me some privacy, but I was also able to join in with family activities. Sikko and Marga went the extra mile to make sure I could see some museums, sights and enjoy the regional foods. The location is great. There is a collection of stores and a gym within walking distance of the house and a bus stop right outside!

Susanne is a wonderful human and I am most grateful for the experience of staying with her. Susanne (and Tashi) warmly welcomed me into their home, where we exchanged in many meaningful discussions, stories, meals prepared with vegetables from the garden, and many laughs. The work itself was simple garden and house work in the peaceful setting of the mountains, with bush land just at your back door. So happy to have been there at the perfect time to harvest all of those kiwi fruits! My experience with Susanne was such a pleasure and I would surely recommend her as a host! Thank you so much for your space and energy Susanne ☺️

I was able to stay with Manoelle and Luca on their beautiful farm for a little over 2 weeks. During this time I helped with the season preparation and took care of the garden and the preparation of the apartments. The work was totally doable and it was always a very good working atmosphere. Manoelle and Luca are hardworking and very enthusiastic people and you immediatly can adjust your working mood on that. My stay was very nice, the whole landscape is breathtaking. They both looked after me very kindly and I immediately felt very comfortable. On my free days I went to Perugia or other small towns and I did a bit of sightseeing. I could always asked for trips or things I should see and Manoelle had always very good ideas on how I should spent the free day. I will come back soon, maybe even for a vacation! Thank you very much for everything and see you soon! Big hug from Germany:)

I can hardly express in words what Jeff and Siti have meant to me during this last month. If I could give them 10 out of 10, it still wouldn't be enough! They were without doubt the best crew we have had here and I'm very grateful for all they brought and shared. They are young yet mature, responsible yet fun, discreet but yet a great company and throughly reliable in every way. They show initiative all the time and what was of great importance to me was that they thought ahead for me being able to see what needed to be done and suggest that I might like them to do it. They were very adaptable and worked well either together or separately and they undertook any tasks with enthusiasm and attention to detail. They share a genuine passion for cooking and during their stay I've truly had some of the best meals ones can possibly imagine would be western or oriental dishes.I'll miss them a lot as I can miss a long date friends and I'll feel blessed to cross our path again in future.

Michel's land is wonderful. All the nature that surrounds it give us a great peace. Everyday I learned a lot and I really enjoyed it and embraced the community way of life. I’m grateful to the universe for having met people with a good heart and good energy. I really want to come back.

I spent two weeks at the farm with Gwen, Thomas, Karla, Matti and the animals and it feels like I've known them forever! They live in a beautiful area of southern Denmark which offers much space to retreat from your day to day life which was exactly what I needed. Staying with the family felt easy and light from the first moment I met everyone and continued throughout my whole stay. I was integrated right into the family's day to day life and helped out with the usual barn chores as well as finishing off the roof of Thomas' workshop or doing something in the house. I got lots of chances to accompany Gwen when she went out for work or with the kids and got to see the area on the danish side as well as some of Schleswig-Holstein. I learned a ton from Gwen about horses since she has a wide knowledge about everything concerning them and it was super fun to work with her to for example train trailer-loading with sweet Jara or going for short drives or walks in the forest. One of my highlights was definitely that I got to drive the sulkie with Prins and that Gwen took me with her to a team penning clinic! Whilst working with Thomas I got to extend my at first not-really existing carpentry skills since we isolated and finished of the roof of his shop as well as installing a heat pump up there. My highlight here was finishing up the isolation under the hot roof while we listened to Taylor Swift! It was really rewarding that we finished up the project on my stay and it was super cool that Thomas let me try out everything like for example sawing and helped me when I didn't know how to continue on with something and was always patient with me. In general I learned just a lot by chatting with Thomas and Gwen since they know so much about various topics concerning their works which was super cool and helpful for my studies as well. Besides the work part we spent lots of time playing board games which I absolutely loved since I'm not used to usually playing a lot of them, but it was a lot of fun and I found a new favorite game as well :D I also got to explore Sonderborg on one day by myself which was a cool city at the sea not too far from the farm. What else can I say? My stay was really nice and refreshing from my usual uni life and I missed just being outside a lot instead of staring at screens the whole day. Doing chores, working with Gwen and Thomas, hanging out with them and the kids and playing games helped to relax and really come back home feeling just happy and refreshed. They took me in like I'm a part of the family which from a workawayers perspective really is the best you can get since it makes you feel right at home. I can totally recommend staying at the farm and I'm sure it wasn't my last time there! Love, Fiona :)

I am totally recharged after staying for 2 weeks on Oumayma's farm. Whene I arrived I was warmly welcomed by the whole family. I learned a lot about the Moroccan culture and traditions which I am very thankfull for. I really felt part of the family. We started the morning with feeding the animals. After that we had breakfast and decided together what the tasks for the day are. I did some gardening, weeding, planting of vegetables, building a mud house and making a plan for the new garden. The work is very flexible and adapted to your interests and skills. But Oumayma is also happy to share knowledge with you about farming and her other passions. In the time that I was there we visited a few city's, went to local markets, went to a family gadering and so much more. They gave me the chance to join there day to day life and took the time to explain all the Moroccan costums. I am really gone miss the good talks, walks in the garden, sleeping in a tent or on the roof, looking at the starts together and not to forget the delicious dishes her mom made us everyday. Oumayma has an enthousiastic, open-minded, helping and caring personality. Thank you for everything, I'll definitely return :))
